HISTORY

The Porterville Fair has been an integral event in the community for 72 years and has been well established as a “Community Tradition”. Established in 1948, the first two fairs were held at Porterville High School. Followed by one year at the Rocky Hill Arena, the Fair was moved to Olive Street in 1951 and remained there until 2010. Today, thanks to the tremendous support shown by the community the Fair has a new home on 35 acres located on Teapot Dome (Ave 128) close to the Porterville Airport.

The Porterville Fair is one of only a few fairs in the State of California that is a not for profit organization and receives no State or federal funding. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors originally consisting of just three members, the Board has slowly grown to today’s 12-member strong working board. Board members represent the Porterville Fair service area from Lindsay to Ducor and Poplar to Springville.

The Porterville Fair benefits from tremendous volunteer support. Currently there are 13 standing committees of the fair representing over 100 year round volunteers. Strong community support is evident with the addition of 200 volunteers who partner with the staff to produce the annual community fair.

The Porterville Fair is a great gathering place for family and friends. We eagerly anticipate the future. We have tremendous opportunities for growth and as always, we strive for excellence as we provide a unique community experience.
