HERITAGE ASSOCIATION

The Porterville Fair Heritage Association was formed in 2012 with the goal of preserving the fairgrounds, ensuring growth, and providing funds needed for future projects and reducing the debt incurred with the new fairgrounds. The 12 member group hit the ground running, holding their first event in April 2013, “Hollywood Hits P-Town.” The event, catered by Fugazzi’s, and featuring comedian, Jackie Kashian, was well attended. The community came together and over $17,000 was raised! The annual Heritage Association fall fundraiser has been customized each year to fit the attending crowd. Dennis & Caroline Laux along with an amazing crew have served up an amazing meal each year since the 2nd annual event. The 2019 fundraiser made a drastic change taking the event under the barn for a Ranch Team Sorting, dinner, silent auction, and calcutta. The first fundraising event event under the barn was enjoyed by 230 guests. Mark your calendars now to make sure you don’t miss out on the 2022 Cow Patty Bingo and Chili Cook Off fundraiser under the barn set for September 24th.

PORTERVILLE FAIR HERITAGE ASSOCIATION MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Porterville Fair Heritage Association is to ensure growth and viability for youth related educational programs, exhibits, and future projects needed at the fairgrounds. The Heritage Association is dedicated to supporting the Porterville Fair so that it may continue to to be an exemplary multi-use community resource.

The Heritage Association joined forces with the Porterville Fair Livestock Sale Committee, and sponsored the first “Heritage Animal” at the 2013 fair. The proceeds of this animal are used exclusively to reduce the debt of the new fairgrounds. Each year auction buyers have rallied and over $143,000 has been raised!

Upon the success of the first “Heritage Animal,” the group decided to establish a $1,000 Scholarship for a high school senior 4-H or FFA member who is eligible to exhibit at the Porterville Fair. A market animal, including all expenses, is to be raised, exhibited, and sold at the Porterville Fair.

The group meets monthly and has been busy working on ideas for future fundraising and improvements for the Porterville Fair all the while assisting in debt reduction on the new fairgrounds. The mission statement of the Heritage Association is: To ensure growth and viability for youth related educational programs, exhibits, and future projects needed at the fairgrounds. The Heritage Association is dedicated to supporting the Porterville Fair so that it may continue to to be an exemplary multi-use community resource.

The Porterville Fair Heritage Association has been busy getting ready for the 2023 Porterville Fair. In addition to the Heritage Animal to be shown and auctioned, the Association will again be hosting the Heritage Lounge for the duration of the Fair. The Lounge will have a full bar, a private outside patio, as well as snacks. Appetizers will be served each evening, and a “Buyer’s Brunch” will be served from 8 to 10 AM on Saturday. Fair guests will be offered the option of purchasing value packages, which will include access to the Heritage Lounge for those age 21 or older.
